You could choose to arrive and depart from the same city, since Albuquerque and El Paso are only about 5 hours apart, via Interstate 25.įrom El Paso, the route heads east through the mostly empty western panhandle of Texas, passing the little known Guadalupe Mountains National Park before entering into New Mexico. There is nothing much between Santa Fe and Roswell. US 285 south is the best road for all weather conditions, about 4 1/2 hours from SF to Carlsbad. Driving Time: 2-1/2 hours from Santa Fe to Taos (no stops) Trip Time: As there are so many interesting places to stop along the way, this trip can take from 4 to 7 hours. While Meow Wolf may not contain the unique history or architecture of the area, t here are tons of bright, vibrant, and quirky art showcases.
